Customizing Image Export Quality in Evoto: A Guide to Advanced Settings

When you’ve completed your image editing in Evoto, the final step is exporting your image. Evoto provides flexible options for customizing the quality of your exported images, ensuring that you get the desired output every time. Here’s a guide to the Advanced Settings available during the export process, helping you understand how to optimize your image quality and file size.

Advanced Settings: Tailoring Your Export Preferences

Evoto’s Advanced Settings give you control over several aspects of your image export, allowing you to fine-tune the format, quality, and file size of your images.

Image Format

Evoto supports multiple image formats to suit your specific needs:

  • Default: Export your image in the default format optimized for general use.

  • JPG: Ideal for images where file size is a concern and you need a compressed format.

  • TIFF (8 bits / 16 bits): Best for high-quality, lossless images, especially if you plan to do further editing or require higher color depth.

Choosing the right format depends on your intended use for the image. For instance, JPG is great for web use, while TIFF is preferred for professional printing and archiving.

Quality

The quality setting in Evoto is available when exporting images in JPG format:

  • JPG Quality: You can adjust the quality of the JPG image to balance between image quality and file size. Higher quality settings result in larger files, while lower quality settings reduce file size at the expense of image detail.

Limit File Size to

Evoto allows you to set a target file size for your exported image:

  • File Size Limitation: You can input a specific file size, and the export algorithm will compress the image to get as close as possible to your specified size.

Important Note: The final file size may not match exactly the input size due to the nature of image compression. The algorithm will do its best to meet your requirements, but there are limits to how much compression can be applied without affecting image quality.

Percentage-Based Quality Settings

In version 3.5.0, Evoto introduced a percentage-based quality setting for exporting images:

  • Percentage Adjustment: Instead of the previous 14-level quality setting, you can now set the export quality as a percentage. This gives you more precise control over the final image quality.

  • Minimum Quality Threshold: If you set the percentage too low, Evoto will still export the image at a minimum quality of 20% to ensure the image remains usable.

Evoto’s Advanced Settings for image export give you the flexibility to adjust the format, quality, and file size according to your needs. Whether you need a high-quality TIFF for printing or a compressed JPG for online use, these settings allow you to achieve the best balance between quality and file size. Remember, the system is designed to protect your image quality, ensuring that even at lower settings, your images retain a reasonable level of detail and clarity.
