Evoto 5.1 introduces new features, performance enhancements, and UI upgrades across the Library Workspace, Portrait Retouching, Body Adjustments, Background Adjustments, Export settings, and more. This page outlines all major changes included in this release.

Library Workspace Updates

Metadata Panel

A Metadata module has been added to the right-hand side of the Library dashboard. This allows users to view, edit, and update image metadata directly within Evoto.

• Basic Information: View key EXIF and IPTC details.
  
• Batch Edit: When multiple images are selected in Grid view, metadata changes will apply to all selected files. A confirmation dialog will appear before applying the update.
  
• Metadata Update: Supports full metadata read/write operations, including import/export via XMP sidecar files for better compatibility with third-party tools.

Folder Refresh

Refreshing a folder synchronizes Evoto with any changes made outside the app. This includes:

• Metadata updates (star ratings, flags, color labels, EXIF/IPTC)
  
• New photos (automatically imported using Sync Folder)
  
• Missing photos (automatically removed)

Grid View Enhancements

• Thumbnail Zoom Control:
  
  • Use the slider in the bottom-right corner to adjust grid zoom.
    
  • Pinch-to-zoom gestures are supported for trackpad users.

• Survey Mode:
  
  
  • Press N or click “Survey View” to visually compare multiple photos in a tiled layout (up to 12 images).
    
  • Use Cmd+Click (Mac) or Ctrl+Click (Windows) to add or remove images.
    
  • Click the X on the bottom right of an image, or press / to remove an image.
    
  • At least one image must remain selected at all times.
    
  • Star ratings, color labels, and selection/rejection marks can be applied directly when hovering over a given image.
    
  • Quick view shortcuts:
    
    • G – Grid View
      
    • D – Develop Mode
      
    • L – Large Image Mode (supports zooming in/out)
      
    • N – Survey Mode

• Note: Zooming in/out is disabled in Survey Mode.

Project Search

You can now search through projects directly within the Library’s Projects panel using the search bar or the following keyboard shortcuts:

• macOS: ⌘F
  
• Windows/Linux: Ctrl+F

Color Adjustments Module Updates

AI Color Match Enhancements

Reference Images

• Six recommended reference images added
  
• Based on interface language, the images adapt regionally
  

Improved Skin Tones

• Skin tones have been optimized for better tone matching across diverse skin types.
  

Auto Lens Correction for RAW

• Color Match now retains automatic lens correction for RAW files.
  
• Exception: Lens Vignetting remains disabled after Color Match is applied.
  

RGB / Lab Color Check
 

• Purpose: Designed for professional color workflows, especially in e-commerce.
  
• Function: Toggle between RGB and Lab color under:
  
  • Color Adjustment → Histogram → Three Dot icon
    
    

Lab color space offers more device-independent accuracy and human-perceived consistency.

Portrait Retouching Module Updates

Blemish Removal Optimization

• More effective under strong side lighting
  
• Better preservation of natural features like moles and freckles
  
• More conservative to avoid removing intentional skin details

Red Eye Removal

A new switch in the Eyes section automatically detects and corrects red-eye caused by flash photography.

V-Shape

A new V-Shape slider has been added to the Facial Reshape section.

• Adjust each side of the jawline independently or together.
  
• By default, the sliders are linked. Click the chain icon to unlock individual side control.

Face Width Optimization

• Now includes independent left and right sliders.
  
• Default is linked. Unlock for asymmetric control.
  
• Reverse sculpting is now supported for refined, symmetrical adjustments.

Makeup Optimization

• Detects backlighting and automatically reduces makeup intensity to maintain natural appearance

Full Body Reshape Updates

Leg Width Optimization

• Supports both thickening and slimming.
  
• Control thighs and calves separately, or link for synchronized adjustments.
  
• When linked, a unified “Amount” slider appears.
  

Leg Length Optimization

• New sub-sliders for separate thigh and calf adjustments.
  
• Edge protection helps prevent distortion when lengthening.
  
• Default ratio: Thighs 80, Calves 100

Clothing & Accessories Module Updates

De-Blemish Clothing

This new tool removes lint, dust, flakes, and other small distractions from clothing using a single slider to control intensity.

• Use the Manual Tuning pen to fine-tune affected areas and prevent over-correction.

Clothing Edge Smoothing

Smooths out wrinkles and creases at the edges of clothing using AI.

• Automatically activates:
  
  • Clothing Edge Refinement: Fine-tune specific edge areas with the manual tuning pen
    
    
  • Objects Protection: Prevents distortion of nearby objects

• Our AI algorithm has been optimized for better accuracy when extracting backgrounds

AI Shadow Retain & Add Shadow

New option in the Background Adjustment module:
Both AI Retain Shadow and Add Shadow can now be enabled at the same time.

Cropping Optimization – AI Locate

• AI Subject/Faces: Automatically detect full body or face to guide crop.
  
• Distance Control: Adjust how close the subject is to crop boundaries.
  

Person Auto Alignment

• Vertical Alignment: Based on the subject’s central axis.
  
• Horizontal Alignment: Based on eye-line (single-person photos only).
  

UI Enhancements

• Grid Display: Toggle grid visibility during cropping.
  
• Actual Space Indicator: Show real-world units (inches, cm, px).
  
• W × H × Resolution: Allows detailed control of crop resolution.

Export Module Updates

Evoto now includes tailored Output Sharpening Settings for both screen and print.

Handling Existing Files

When exporting to a folder with existing files:

• Add Suffix – Adds numeric suffix to avoid overwriting
  
• Skip – Leaves existing files untouched
  
• Replace – Overwrites previous versions

Image Resizing

Choose from several scale types for resizing:
