Evoto iPad – FAQs

This section provides answers to common questions specifically related to using Evoto on your iPad, covering pricing, tethered shooting, presets, and feature availability.

Purchase-Related Questions

What is the pricing model for Evoto on iPad?

All features within the Evoto iPad app are free to use. Credits are only required when exporting edited images – each export consumes one (1) credit.

Are credits shared between the iPad and PC versions?

Yes. Credits are fully shared across both platforms. You can purchase a plan (whether Pay-As-You-Go or an Annual Subscription) on either your iPad or your PC, and use the credits interchangeably on both devices.

Is pricing the same on iPad and PC?

Yes, the available plans and their base pricing are the same across iPad and PC platforms. However, there may be slight pricing differences depending on your region and current exchange rate fluctuations or specific platform (App Store) policies.

Tethered Shooting Questions

Is there an extra fee to use tethered shooting?

No. All Evoto iPad features are free to use, including both wired and wireless tethered shooting. Charges only apply when you export edited images, not for the act of tethering or capturing photos.

What tethered shooting modes are supported on iPad?

Evoto for iPad supports two primary tethered shooting modes:

  • Wired Tethering (via a direct cable connection)
  • Wireless Tethering (via Wi-Fi)

Which camera brands and models are supported?

Evoto iPad supports a wide range of mainstream camera brands for tethered shooting:

  • Wired Tethering: Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm, Panasonic, Leica, Olympus
  • Wireless Tethering: Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm

For the most up-to-date and complete list of supported models, including specific series and versions, please visit the Evoto Help Center.

Will wireless tethering via mobile hotspot consume mobile data?

No. All image transfers during wireless tethered shooting (even if using a mobile hotspot as your Wi-Fi network) are done over the internal local network connection established between your camera and iPad. This process does not consume your mobile data plan.

Are tethered shooting images saved to the iPad’s storage?

No. Images captured via tethered shooting are initially stored only within the Evoto iPad app itself. They are not automatically saved to your iPad’s Photos app or general storage. If needed, you can export the original files from within the Evoto app or retrieve them directly from your camera’s SD card.

Presets Questions

Can presets saved on the PC be used normally on the iPad?

Most presets saved on your PC can be used normally on the iPad, and vice-versa (presets saved on iPad can also be used on PC). However, due to some functional differences between the PC and iPad versions of Evoto (e.g., certain features might be desktop-only), if a preset contains adjustments or features not supported on the iPad, the effect applied may vary or be incomplete.

Effects Questions

What retouching features can I currently use on Evoto iPad?

Evoto iPad offers a robust suite of retouching features for on-the-go editing. You can use powerful tools such as:

  • Color adjustment (e.g., curves, HSL, basic adjustments)
  • Portrait beautification (e.g., skin retouching, blemish removal, facial reshaping, facial expression tools)
  • Background adjustment (e.g., background extraction, backdrop changer, sky replacement)
  • Clothing enhancement (e.g., de-wrinkle clothing)
  • Cropping and rotation
  • Liquify tools
  • Healing brush

If you have any unmet needs or specific feature requests, please let us know, and we will consider them for future updates.

Can I perform batch editing on Evoto iPad?

Yes. This is one of the key advantages of Evoto iPad. You only need to retouch one image, and the same effects can be efficiently synchronized to all other selected images within your project. This greatly improves your editing efficiency for consistent results across a series of photos.
