Tethering – Olympus

Follow the steps below to configure your OM System (Olympus) camera and computer for tethered shooting in Evoto.


Check Computer Connection

Windows: macOS:
Ensure your OM System camera is set to the correct connection mode (see steps below).
  • Olympus/OM System cameras may not connect reliably to macOS systems.

  • For a more stable connection, it is recommended to: Use an extension USB-C hub to connect the camera to your computer.
Download and install the necessary driver using Zadig:

Avoid direct connections to Mac ports when possible.

Open Zadig, go to Options → List All Devices, and locate your camera model.

 
Click Replace Driver to begin installation.

Wait for the installation to complete.

 
After installation, open Device Manager, and confirm your camera appears under Portable Devices.
 

Configure OM System Camera Settings

Follow these steps on your camera to ensure proper connection for tethered shooting:

1. USB Mode:

  • Go to Menu → Settings → Disp (D4) → USB Mode
  • Select USB / Tether connection

2. Backlit LCD:

    • Go to Menu → Settings → Utility → Backlit LCD
    • Set to Hold

3. Sleep:

    • Go to Menu → Settings → Utility → Sleep
    • Set to Off

4. Auto Power Off:

    • Go to Menu → Settings → Utility → Auto Power Off
    • Set to Off

5. Quick Sleep Mode:

    • Go to Menu → Settings → Utility → Quick Sleep Mode
    • Set to Off
