FTP Connections with Canon Cameras

Follow the steps below to configure your Canon camera and mobile device for FTP tethered shooting with Evoto Instant. This guide will help ensure a stable connection and optimal image transfer during your session. (Using Canon R6 as an Example)

Wi-Fi Configuration

Make sure the camera and phone connect to the same Wi-Fi, or turn on your phone’s hotspot and connect the camera to it.

Menu -> Wireless (Wi-Fi) icon, tap Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Connection.
Once inside, you will see previously configured wireless connections. Tap the small triangle icon on the touchscreen.

FTP Configuration

Select Communication functionsTransfer images to FTP server -> select OK.

Select Add a device to connect to -> select Configure offline

 

Select FTP mode -> FTP -> Enter the FTP server IP address and the Port number shown on Evoto Instant.

Disable proxy server settings -> Select OK to go to the next screen.

Set the the login method to Login password -> Choose Root folder as Target folder -> Select OK to trust the target server -> Connecting settings for FTP transfer are now complete.

Before shooting, make sure Auto Transfer is enabled if needed.

  • Go back to the Wireless featuresWi-Fi settings -> Select FTP transfer settings ->Enable Automatic transfer.

Once connected, the connection may temporarily disconnect — this is normal. The camera will automatically reconnect and start transferring images when shooting begins.


Check in Evoto Instant

When a green check mark and server address appear, it indicates a successful connection.
