The Evoto iPad now supports tethered shooting via wireless connection. This feature enables seamless integration within Evoto iPad, allowing you to view, edit, and apply preset effects to images in real-time during the shooting process.
- Wireless Connectivity for Instant Image Capture
- Real-Time Effect Preview with Preset Synchronization: allows for applying preset effects to a single image with just one click.
- Displays full camera information: such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation, and other details.
How to Start Tethered Shooting on Evoto iPad?
Open Evoto on your iPad, and tap the camera icon the toolbar on the right .You will be directed to the Tether Shooting interface, where the camera will be automatically detected.
If you click Cancel Detection, you can click reinitiate the process by clicking Start Detection.
When a camera is detected, the camera list will display as follows:

For a single camera, the wireless camera signal will show as Connected, along with the camera model information and an option to disconnect on the right side.

If multiple cameras are detected, both Connected (e.g., connected Nikon Z8 with a disconnect button on the right) and Not Connected cameras (with a connect button on the right) will be displayed.

When both wired and wireless connections are available, the camera list will show the detected camera models, with different icons representing wired and wireless connections, as shown below.
Once the camera is successfully connected, the page is shown as follow. Currently only the image capture and shooting functions are displayed.
Settings before Starting Tethering
Step 1: Capture Effect Settings
If you need to apply an effect to your picture, you can choose
- Sync with Previous: sync with whatever feature you have applied to the previous picture to the current picture.
- Presets: select the preset for applied to the current picture
Step 2: Preview Settings
The “Preview Settings” option is available on the tethered shooting page and offers two modes:
- Show Newest Capture Photo (default selection): This will allow your preview picture to always stay at the newest captured picture. You will automatically switch to the newest captured picture.
- Keep Current Selection : The preview will remain on the currently selected photo and will not change when new photos are captured.
Step 3: Name File
There are five ways to name your original file.
- Custom Filename – Sequence(Default)
- Custom Filename – Original Filename
- Capture Date – Sequence
- Capture Date – Original Filename
- Original File name
When selecting a format that includes a date, you can choose the corresponding display format. Use Y for year, M for month, and D for day. For example, YYYYMMDD would display as 20241016.
Notification for the picture naming.
You cannot use the following symbols while naming the picture: ‘;’、‘:’、‘^’、‘*’、‘<’、‘>’、‘?’、‘|’
If you have used the listed symbols, you will not be able to name the file

To ensure smooth usage of the tethered shooting feature, please note that adjustments may be necessary on both the iPad and camera sides, depending on the camera manufacturer’s settings.

Abnormal Situation
The following reasons might cause your connection to fail:
- Your iPad’s system version is outdated. We recommend upgrading to the latest version of iPadOS.
- The current camera type is not supported by the tethered shooting in Evoto. If your camera is not been supported as listed in the checklist, you can contact support@evoto.ai, and we will update it as soon as possible.
- You have already connected the tether shooting using other software, and please close the conflicting software.
- Camera connection issue may due to the unstable internet condition, please try reconnecting by switching to a different Wi-Fi network.
- If you have opened software such as, “Photos”, “Image Capture”, “Image Preview”, or other software that occupies the camera device, it will also cause the tether connection to fail. Closing such software will allow the tether shooting to be automatically connected again.
